The title " Serendipity " for this original art work collection was inspired by the artist's own personal journey of discovery.
The word serendipity means to make discoveries by accident and in many ways the discovery of the artist's own talent came about quite by accident.
In 1997, Luzette suffered the sudden and unexpected death of her beloved husband under tragic circumstances.
With no children and her closest relatives half way across the world, she was plunged into a period of loneliness and deep despair, the likes of which she had never known.
It was in the hope of finding some form of peace, comfort and a distraction to her continuing grief and despair, that as the new millennium began she sought solace in painting.
For short periods at a time she was able to lose herself in her painting. It became her therapy, while she continued to search for answers to the many questions in her heart and mind that continued to torment her.
Over the years that followed she nurtured the artist within her that she never knew existed. It was a journey of discovery she began in the hope it would help her find answers, but by accident she found something else ... her artistic talent.
This collection therefore represents the artist's rebirth, during a time when she went looking to find herself and discovered quite by accident something else -
Serendipity in Color.
